The city of Krakow is one of the most beautiful and surprising in Europe. With its palace of the Polish kings, ancient Jewish quarter and the largest medieval square in Europe it really is a slice of history waiting to be discovered. To the south the Tatra Mountains, with the town of Zakopone have a distinct beauty of their own. We have travelled widely in the south of the country visiting villages where mediaeval strip farming is still the way of agriculture and wood and peat are the main fuels of the winter.
