OK
let’s be honest here very few birders wear cammo material except for
the young and very keen. However if you were given a camouflage coat for
your birding I’d bet you never take it off!
If like me you become interested in digiscoping and you’re
prepared to wait for ages at certain sites to get the shots you need,
then it does pay to invest in some sort of camouflage material. When
photographing birds we have one major problem that to any bird the human
shape represents the ultimate predator and they tend disappear as
quickly as possible. Therefore as bird watchers and photographers we
have to use every means at our disposal to get success. The
biggest weapon we have is DPM material, as it is known in the British
Forces. (Disruptive Pattern Material) This comes in the form of many
styles and you should consider the time of year you’ll be wearing it
or the terrain you will be moving over before buying.
Camouflage patterns are now
available in tape, sheets of material, jackets, gloves hats and
trouser and specialist covers for telescopes when mounted on a tripod.
